Candidacy Programme Applications

We would like to extend an invite to your organisation to enrol two professionals in junior or middle management onto the eight month internationally and locally accredited Candidacy Programme by the Charted Institute of Logistics and Transport. The Commercial Transport Academy is pleased to announce that it has secured funding from US Aid for the training of 44 employed women in phase one of the Programme.

The CTA has collaborated with USAID and CILT to design and implement a purpose driven training solution that will inspire women to improve their knowledge, learn new skills, and advance their management and leadership abilities with the ultimate goal of remaining in the sector. Successful learners will be awarded the CILT International Diploma in Logistics and Transport.

The programme is aimed at females who have at least 4 years and above work experience in logistics, transport, supply chain and/or warehousing/operations. See Minimum Qualifying Criteria for Applicants below.

The programme will commence on the 1st June 2021. Applications close on the 14th May 2020,

  • South African citizen

  • Currently employed in a junior and middle management role logistics, transport, supply chain and/or warehousing/operations role with a minimum of 4 years working experience.

Employer Commitments

Whilst all costs for tuition, assessment, graduation and certification, will be borne by the funds from USAID. Employers will be responsible for a contribution of R8000 towards the total cost of the Programme. Employees based outside Johannesburg should be sponsored a flight to attend their graduation by their employer.

A key element of the success of this programme is that learners receive in-house mentoring in order to achieve their training objectives. As part of these objectives access to internal information which leads to the final project of the programme will be key and organisations are encourage to support and work with the mentors and the employee participating in the professional qualification programme.

Entrepreneurship Programme Applications

“Run with IT – Navigating a business through a crisis”

We invite all female entrepreneurs! Nominations are open for women entrepreneurs for the “Run With It – Navigating a business through a crisis” Programme. This new initiative is fully funded and aimed at female micro business and SME entrepreneurs in the logistics, transport, supply chain and/or warehousing/operations industry. Successful applicants will not only achieve an NQF Level 4 certificate, but will be enrolled onto the internationally recognised GrowthWheel programme – a powerful business acceleration platform.

This unique opportunity has been made possible by the Commercial Transport Academy, in partnership with the US Agency for International Development (USAID – From the American People). The CTA has secured funding from USAID to assist women-owned micro or SME businesses with the skillset to build a strong foundation to scale their business.

Our Programme will assist women business owners to build their business management knowledge and competence, improve their management and leadership capabilities, operate more efficiently and improve their financial management skills.”

The programme will commence on the 1st of June 2021.

Small enterprises in particular need a strong business network, to collaborate and access opportunities. Part of the Programme includes GrowthWheel, a cloud-based platform that enables participants to work together and make their businesses grow.

The Programme will intake 300 female-owned micro enterprises and SMEs. Phase one commences this year, comprising an intake of 100 micro businesses. It is aimed at female entrepreneurs who have existing businesses and who are currently selling a service or logistics, transport, supply chain and/or warehousing/operations.

It is an eight-months e-learning programme that includes mentorship from trusted business advisors, who have been carefully selected to deliver industry-based knowledge. The Programme is structured and modular based, requiring the completion of four modules: Identifying business opportunities; Developing strategies; Technology in business; Developing and implementing business processes; Managing finances and, Operations management. Four of the six modules are compulsory.
